Check engine light question
Hi, check engine light is on and autozone said the code was "Trouble Code P0171 System too lean (Bank 1)" I've had people tell me its the O2 sensor and about 20 other things, before i drop the money on new sensors any suggestions. Oh and when i start it up, it hesitates for about 15 seconds, i rev the engine and then it starts running better.
Oh its a 2000 sentra gxe, 5 spd with about 58k miles Thanks Brent Last edited by bb11; 09-30-2004 at 07:34 AM. |

Re: Check engine light question
too lean?
that could be a lot of things, O2 sensor, maf, anything in the fuel system (injectors, pump, etc). Try taking it to the dealer, they may be able to pinpoint the problem for you.

Re: Check engine light question
I just had that problem with my 01 sentra. All that needed to be done was a upgrade to the computer. People were telling me all the same things as you are hearing but it wasn't any of them. I think that it cost my like $80 to get the upgrade, or something like that.

How did you upgrade the computer/ how did you know that was what needed to be done? I've got a 2000 Sentra GXE w/ 83k on it...
I'm having the exact same problem but don't have a dealer I can trust in the area to look at it & not gouge me. The shop I took it to in the first place told me it was a MAF sensor that needed replaced, but I don't believe them!! Thank you! Last edited by lstrahinic; 10-09-2005 at 10:12 PM. |

well, if u test the sensors then it would be easy to find if one is bad. Check the output at them

check engine light
I have a 97 sentra gxe with 171,000 miles. Autozone told me that I needed a new gas cap and that didn't fix the problem. The light came back on about 2 days later. I also have problems sometimes when starting it as well. It hesitates, I rev the gas and it idles fine. Other than that the car runs great. Mostly highway miles.
