Unhappy SR20 smog legal in Cali???

Hey everyone! Im planning on buying this 240 with a SR20DET motor in it. Since i live in Cali, and smog rules and shit are so strict , are SR20 motors smog legal in CA?

Re: SR20 smog legal in Cali???

Like I have said before. All those guys running Sr20 motors in cali, they gotta get them smogged somewhere. I live in Cali, but I am US Military, so we get Overlooked sometimes. Also my car is rgistered in another state. Last drift event I went to I saw so many Swapped 240s, all with Cali plates.

when i was looking to buy and 240 sx i found alot of them in cali with sr20s already in them..

my sugestion is dont buy some one elses project. i wouldnt buy any used turbo car for that fact. Most of the time you'll find out down the road that they have been abused and will cost you an ass load in repairs.

and if u want a fast car the ka is a damn good motor to work with. take the money you would spend to get the motor have it installed and the various goodies you would want. you could take that and invest it into the ka, ie. get it rebuilt turbo and other things and have a whole lot more car for your money and since you got the stuff and had it installed your self you wont be worried about when shits gonna break.

plus the ka is a better dragger

HAHAHAHA YEA RIGHT!!!

u wont pass smog in Cali if you smoke next to the test machine, so anything like touching the engine or touching the exhaust in any kinda way will fail you!!
