D15B2 with a 4-spd????????

As im reading some posts in here, im noticing that my engine should have a 5-spd on it, but i just found out this civic had a engine swap a while back, it was a std, and she had a d15b2 put in the car, but they kept the 4-spd trans,

is this ok???????? or is this going to give me problems??
This cars is way toooo slow, and something just doesn’t seem right

Re: D15B2 with a 4-spd????????

unless it's MPFI, i'm not suprised it feels slow being a 4speed DPFI.

you have me a little confused. you say she had a d15b2 put in like it was an upgrade. that is the engine that should be in a STD. it sounds like the stock engine was just replaced with another stock.

i'm also not suprised it has a 4 speed. it's really the dx that "should have the 5 speed" as you put it. the STD i sold last summer was painfully slow compared to my si. however, i kinda had fun with the 4 speed. it held 1st and 2nd gear all day long, lol.

dx/ std = economy car. DPFI is more efficent for the commuter, the 4 speed designed for traffic. the DX isn't much of a step up from the STD, compared to the Si being a step up from the DX.

Well I thought the STD came with a 72hp engine or something, and a 4spd.

i know this engine is the second one in the car, and just curious if maybe something wasn’t right.. I hardily use 3-rd gear. It does not seem to push the car at all. Seems like something’s just not right..

Re: D15B2 with a 4-spd????????

d15b1 - 70ish hp, d15b2 90ish hp, both came with both I think, and they were both slow to a point that it would make both passengers cry though both eyes.

Yeah I have the d15b1 with a 4 speed and if youre on a 25mph road its easier to skip 3rd gear.

Re: D15B2 with a 4-spd????????

I can tell you that driving my std in traffic is painfull because I can have a van full of soccer kids flying by me from an intersection while I'm pushing the 4-spd to death. It's hard to get over but in the end, I know I'm the mpg god.

Now I'm a little confused when you guys said that you drive around in 1st and 2nd all day long. How fast are u exactly going in 2nd cause 4th gear is still way to high even on the interstate to drive with.
