91 Escort LX Manual Transmission problems

first off it wont go into first at all, when it goes into second, it starts grinding something awful. i was racing in my pasture I took my first turn in neutral with the ebrake, then i went to shift it in first and it wouldn't go into gear, so i tried second, it started grinding, then i tried third it worked but it dragged ass and started burning my clutch.

third, fourth and fifth work, just not first and second. I checked in the linkage for mud - nothing is blocking the linkage visably, I think that the first and second gear are shot within the transmission.
