4X4 Low Hesitation

Hey guys, i'm new the the 4X4 world, i was actually an import racer before i bought my '97 Blazer LS. I'm just curious, when i put it in 4Lo, and push the gas, it starts moving slowely and then jerks to a higher speed, it does this every time it changes gears. Is this normal or is there really something wrong???

If you have a tachometer, watch it in 4 wheel low. You will see that the engine is reving up quick enough but the gear ratio is so low, you are moving slow. That is the purpose of 4 wheel low, for better control in tough situations. Not for normal use.

Re: 4X4 Low Hesitation

Encoder motor is having issues I think.

Check all fluid levels in your diffs and you tranny and transfer case.

Re: 4X4 Low Hesitation

now i know exactly what's wrong, well kinda. A freind of mine changed my oil as a favor the other day, he said something about unscrewing the wrong plug but i didn't think anything of it, he said it was on the driver's side of the engine facing the LF wheel, what is that for???

Re: 4X4 Low Hesitation

Front differential I think.

Inspect both differentials and the transfer case.

So your friend popped out the wrong plug and didn't replace the fluid?

Do yourself a favour, don't let this friend work on your truck again.

Re: 4X4 Low Hesitation

i think so, he said only a little came out, but it was obviously enough to screw it up...

Quite the friend you got there.

Keep him away from all your vehicles.
