Question Parting out a '96 sedan

I have exhausted all options of returning this car to the road. It threw a rod a year ago and I have been unable to find a motor for under $600. The car is not even worth $600 due to the body damage inflicted by my late grandmother.

You have all been very helpful in the past and I would appreciate any advice. Is it worth the trouble to pull parts for the next few months and ship them out? The junkyards will only pay $55 for the car. I paid more than that for a tail light lens.

The car is White with a blue interior. The tires are new and mounted on aluminum wheels. The transmission was well maintained and has 63,000 granny miles (I replaced the filter around 45,000 miles). The car is complete except for the following damaged items:

Left/right front/rear fenders
front bumper
all four doors
torn carpet under drivers foot
exterior mirrors
engine block

What do you guys think?

Re: Parting out a '96 sedan

does it have hubcaps or aluminum rims? Can I maybe get a pic of those rims? How about a spolier? Does your car, or does anyone want to sell me theirs? Um,,,,, ok, back to your post, sorry. now if it were me...., I would salvage anything possable. Stip that thing down, and ebay off everything. Someone will buy most anything on ebay. Then after you get well worth the car is worth off of ebay, and parting out to people, trailer it to the junkyard, and get your 55 bux

Re: Parting out a '96 sedan

you would be suprized as to what people sell (and buy) on ebay. Even used engine parts will sell. Just go ping around that site once for 3.1 motor parts and see what's all being sold, and more importantly see what its going for. I know people will more than likely buy external engine parts, and any body parts that arent damaged. Not to mention any interior knobs, radio, dash speedo, the dash itself, heater controlls. You name it, it can be sold (and will be bought) on ebay. Just my two cents worth. Good luck, take care, God Bless

Re: Re: Parting out a '96 sedan

It has the optional aluminum wheels. A few shiny tin lug nut covers are missing. The wheels are in fine shape and the tires are new General 225/60-16 which I paid $300 for out the door. They are mounted and balanced and have been holding air for a year in the garage. I would accept any reasonable offer. Do you still need pic's or are you familiar with these optional wheels? The shipping may be expensive depending on where you live.
