Re: Desprate NEED OF ESC
What kinda motor do u have? the turn thing is this:
The higher the turn (27T): Lower Top speed, Higer torque, and better acceleration Lower the turn limit (13T or sumthing like that, or any lower): Higer the top speed, lower torque, and slower acceleration. So when ur buying a esc just make sure u check the motor limit, u can have to haver a lower motor limit, that way if u wanna get a new motor, a faster one, u can no problem, but lower turn limits = more expensive, and if u want a decent ESC for the price, get on ebay good luck

Thanks, so overall a lower motor turn limit ESC is better? lol I'll need the luck to get a nice one from Ebay.
The motor in my car is a 540-22K motor, I forgot what brand. It supposedly goes around 30-40 mph . Also any recommendations for a forward/reverse ESC?????

Take a look at the Novak XRS (15t) and the Duratrax Intellispeed Mild-Modified (16t). Both around $50.

Re: Desprate NEED OF ESC
Novak Explorer 2 is perfect and only runs about 45-5o buks.

Futaba makes some nice stuff. god job on getting rid of that MSC and getting an ESC, there really is no reason to stay with an MSC unless you are totally broke. Anyway, your motor is a standard closed endbell motor, prob a mabuchi(sp?). nice, cheap effiecent motors. In which case it would be a 27 turn motor and wont spin very fast. To be much more precise then the person earlier, the number or turns a in a motor is the number of times that the wire inside the motor is turned around the motors armature. Therfore, the lower number of turns the motor, the less mass to spin so the motor (under no load) can spin to a higher rpm, and sometimes gets there faster.
Lower turn motors also require more power (thus higher ampdraw) and will drain a pack faster. To handle this higher amp draw, you need better construction and more expensive components. that is why cheaper ESC's cant handle lower turn motors, they cant handle the amp draw of those lower turn motors. The whole better top speed and better acceleration statments made earlier are only true if teh gear ratios do not change. Changing the gear ratio though can change the whole story. Machine wound motors, whether lower turn or higher turn motors will all be about the same price. Hand wound modified motors (27 turn motors are called stock motors, most others are modified motors) are more expensive, because they are woudn by hand (duh). They have tighter turns and a more ideal wire patteren then machine wound motors. They cost more to make, hence the higher price. they are also more powerful then machine wound motors. i hope this helped, although i probally comfused you in teh process.

lol thanks man. U know, its so much funner with a ESC than a MSC. My car used to like shake and jerk when going fast wit the MSC, now it can actually reach and stay. lol the diffrence is day and night
