Two tone Revell datsun

Hey guys, first model on the site, was completed about a month ago. Never really got into car modeling, dabbled a little when I was younger, now Im going all out, with the funds to back it up. Things I have learned from this car...

1.Dont glue the underbody to the chassis until you are completely done.
2.DONT EVER TOUCH THE DAMN GLASS. Leave it in a ziplock bag until your final assembly.
3.Dont continue a car if something is wrong (the roof is messed up, but I didnt care, now its all i see when i see the car).
4.Dont use testors spray cans.

Long story short, it was a big beginners test model. I sanded off the logos, and closed the gap behind the headlights, and sanded it to hell to make it look smooth, and blend in with the lines of the body. I lost the mirrors, so dont ask. The hood is a mess, long story short, the testors got bubbles in the paint no matter how I sprayed it. I have an airbrush now, and you can see the difference in the skyline at the botttom of this post. Seats from a 95 mustang something or other, wheels from the Hasegawa 1600 celica. Enjoy.

Quick question, how do i get my photos hosted by automotive forums?

Newest project.

Re: Two tone Revell datsun

Good build of a crappy kit. Love the two-tone.

Which kit # is that Celica (your next project)? Or is that a Skyline?

***Edit***
Figured out it's Tamiya's Skyline 2000 GT-R Hard Top. Next question: what rims are those?

Hey,

They don't look that bad at all. But where is the 2tone?

The black on the bottom and the blue on top. I didn't notice it at first sight either.

I wanted the 2-tone to be subtle. Yeah the thing about revell kits is they start out easy, then get to be difficult.

The wheels that Im using for the skyline are rp03, bought off ebay a few months ago.

Not a bad effort for your first kit...at least you are learning as you go for the next one.

Re: Two tone Revell datsun

Ansel, to get better pics and to accentuate the two tone used either omni lighting, or lighting from the the front left or front right. The backlighting hides the details that you put into the model.

Nice build though! You definately have potential to be a fantastic modeler.

Re: Two tone Revell datsun

damn, that skyline looks to be coming along great...

I'm glad I'm not the only one that had trouble with that Revell 240z!!!! My hood fit as poorly as yours did, no matter what I did I couldn't get it to sit right.... and the nose fit poorly too. Definetely one of the worst kits I've ever bought. I did however swap a NASCAR SB2 under the hood, so it was kinda cool anyway

Re: Two tone Revell datsun

I love that green skyline, Ive seen it before in the forums. Ill post engine pics soon, like tomorrow.

EDIT: the wheels are Enkei rp03. Sorry for the confusion due to that.
