AE86 Meet

Hey guys, since there are currently some AE86 popping up here on AF, why don't we make a meet?!

I'll start off with my fictional race Levin. Actually the decals were only added because i f*cked up the paint on the hood and it got a crack on the roof, right under the cusco decal.

Next on my to-build list is a Trueno hatchback. It'll be metallic blue with black bumpers. Maybe I'll try building the j-Blood bodykit for it... I like that thing very much

So come on guys, show us your AE86's!

Re: Re: AE86 Meet

Wow that looks good, mrceej

But you do know that (at least from waht I have seen) the umm.... flares? don't know what they are called, are not integrated in the rear skirt? They are seperate parts that are put on the rear bumper. From your pics it looks like you made them one part.

Here, see what I mean?

Btw. That's the j-Blood bodykit on Ueo's car

El Krammito, I wish i had some of these nice SSR MkII / MKIII

Re: AE86 Meet

hmmm, not sure what exactly they are called either. rear side apron thingys?!

yeah, the paint is really thick. quick story behind this model:
made it once with the custom made kit. put decals on completely, grabbed the gunmetal spray by mistake instead of clear and...well you get the picture. i sanded everything down and started a new paint job. since my buddy had the real thing with the jblood kit, i painted it to match his car pictured here:

then the correct rims (TE37) for my model came in the mail and i was like, man what a waste. and right before i finished the model for him, i came across another sift corolla model. so i figured instead of making the j blood kit again, i could (once again) sand down my model and start a new paint job and use the new decals. as you can tell, the body lines are nearly gone. that's why all the body kit pieces lost their detail. either way, his car has gone through two changes to it's appearance since that model was released and now he has the J Blood Fenders. i'll post some pics of the completed model with graphics as soon as i can.

by the way, this one is my real one:

and since this a scale modeling thread, here's my 1:1 with my 1:10

You have a nice car there

I wish Truenos were avaible in germany... I'd even be satisfied with a Levin ... But I want the hatchback. The only AE86 we got in germany is the 2 door Levin. And the engine is really lowered in power compared to jdm models... And that damn car is damn rare here in germany. And importing them costs so much bloody money! *sigh* Well... I have time... I'm not 18 yet (stupid german driving rules), so I have enough time to hope for some miracle to happen, that I get enough money so that I can import one

Cool Re: AE86 Meet

not to stray too far off topic, but would you believe i got mine for free? the blue corolla actually belonged to the guy who owns the dark silver one in the previous picture. he sold it to my co worker a few years ago and that guy moved away while the car sat out for a year. when he returned, it didn't work any more. so he let me have it in the condition seen in the pic on the freeway. all i did was buy new springs and shocks, add a new exhaust system, and wash/wax the heck out of it. all the car needed to start up was a new battery. i heard that in europe in general that the corolla was only offered as a levin. i didn't know that in germany, it's only offered in coupe form. i guess we learn something everyday right? my buddy with the silver one has his converted to all the japanese spec parts, minus RHD. he was in the process of swapping this when that picture was taken:

since then he decided to go back to his turbo converted 4AGZE he previously had installed. mine is stock as of right now but it is the equivalent to an 86. it has the factory optional LSD and the twin cam 4AGE for the motor.

Man, you are SO damn lucky

Btw. My Trueno in 1:24 that I'll build next (aww... I totally forgot that I wanted to buy paint today... crap... well I'll do it tomorrow ) will be in a similar color scheme like your real one The blue will be just a bit lighter and maybe the black will be painted like on a panda color scheme.

That's nice to know

Btw. Do you have a few good reference pictures of the j-blood bodykit?
Maybe you could take a few pictures of your friends car? I got some but more would be better since I'm thinking about building my Trueno with the j-blood bodykit but... I don't know how that will turn out... It would be my first attempt at creating anything new for a kit...

So I don't know if I should attempt it with the risk that it becomes totally crappy or leave it to be the stock Trueno... hm...

Re: AE86 Meet

I need to get 2 Levin models atm. One to build a replica of my 1:1 Levin as it is now, and one of how i want my Levin to look when its done. I have a crappy ID Trueno made, but im not super proud of it, so no point taking pics and posting it. But nice 86's from everyone anyway. Ill be watching this thread for sure.

Here's mine before I stripped everything.
I'm going to make a replica of my 1:1 car. I also have another Trueno coupe that just came in the mail from HLJ, it'll sport a classic AE86 look with red centered SSR Mk II's.
BTW these are old pics.

Here's the hooptie
