Reverse Sensing System

The RSS in my 2000 turns off immediatley after I shift to Reverse. I have checked all the fuses and electrical connections. Does anyone have any additional info on the system??

Re: Reverse Sensing System

My 2000 doesn't have RSS, but here are some quick thoughts:

- Do the backup lights work correctly? I'm guessing the RSS and backup lights work off of the same transmission sensor. If something seems strange about how the lights work, it could be affecting the RSS.

- Do you notice any differences if you wiggle/jiggle/move the shift lever while in reverse? Could be something worn or loose that's creating a marginal signal for the RSS.

Wink Re: Reverse Sensing System

I've had the samething happenning on my 1999. This is caused by a short in your RSS. Check the wiring harness going to each sensor near the rear bumper. Especially around the tailpipe, my wiring harness came loose and touched the tailpipe which melted the wires.
