Re: sterio problems....
im planning on putting a new cd player in my cavalier. i read somewhere on line about having to leave the stock cd player in the car. so i was looking online at how you do that. i read somewhere that there was a plug in the truck where you could plug the stock cd player in. so i looked in my trunk and found a plug but it was already plugged into something so i unpluged it and took my stock cd player and pluged it into that plug. come to find out i unpluged the factory amp and pluged my cd player there. now no speakers in my car will play music even tho i have everything hooked up right. when i turn the radio on my rear speakers vibrate really loud. and thats all they do in order to stop it i need to unplug the factory amp. so what is going on why the heck do the speakers do that. the radio works fine it goes to the stations and does everything i just get no music. are my speakers blown or whats wrong i cont figure it out...

Re: sterio problems....
your speakers are fine....good Lord man, don't go just pluggin things in when you're not sure what they are. You did one of two things. You either blew the amp up, or you blew the preamp in the headunit. I'm guessing the later of the two. If you put another head unit in, it will probably work. the reason it stops when you unplug the amp is because then your speakers aren't getting any input signal at all. you don't have to remount the head unit in your trunk, you can, but you don't have to. all that will happen if you don't is that your chimes won't work. if that bothers you, than you will have to mount it in your trunk and spend about $100 on a harness for it.

Re: sterio problems....
hey i installed the radio in yesterday. to install it i disconected the negitive battery terminal. then i took the dash apart. i bought this wiring harness at circuit city cost $60 but what it does is it does all the stuff your stock radio did..controls door chimes everything it makes for an easy install too... after i installed it i plugged the battery back up turned the car on and everything worked.. you dont need to run a new power wire for the radio to turn on and off with the car either that circuit city thing controls that to.. it was worth the $60...but its been 2 days and everything works really good.
