moding wastegate for lower boost

does anybody know if you have or how you have to modify the stock 14b turbo wastegate in order to only make a boost of around 5 psi. I'm turboing a non turbo 4g63 and don't want to have to pump 11 pounds though it. i've heard about spring modifications or modifying the linkage.

Thanks

I dont know if you can do this, or if it even works. But you can drill holes in the wastage flaper. Someone correct me if im wrong.

well just get a different wg, there are some out there for 16 G's and 14 B's, or go with an external wg! I would not recomend the whole drilling! Hahn race craft has actuators available just give them a call and the will help you out

Re: moding wastegate for lower boost

Hole drilling, or loosening the preload on the actuaotor, will lower boost but will also increase lag. Your only hope is to cut the actuator open and find a lower spring that will work, and reassmeble. But if it leaks you're screwed. The 2g t25 turbo has similar dimensions to a 14b, I wonder if you could modify its actuator to work. That has a 7 psi spring if I remember correctly.

so drilling holes right in the actual wastegate valve works? but woundn't the wastegate never even open anyways because it take about 9 pounds just to open the thing? I have heard of different spring kits but for some reason i think i read some where about a guy turbos a corolla with a td04 and all he did was extend the linkage on the wastegate but i guess that would be the same idea as drilling holes in the flapper because it would always be open. does anyone know if there is some kind of random easy to find spring that could be jimmy rigged into the wastegate to lower the resistance. and has anymore ever modified a stock wastegate spring b4?

Thanks

First, I spelled "easier" right in my post directly above yours, and you still managed to douche it. Second, yes, that's what I said With an external it takes about 2 minutes to swap springs, and there are countless rates available. No cutting, drilling holes, or other similar hack jobs. And they never spike or creep unless its a really piss poor setup.
