Hi! This is my first time, so be gentle...
My "Check Engine" light came on last night while driving on the freeway. When I stopped, the idle was surging as it sometimes does when I start the car. When I turned the ignition this morning and pushed the "Check Engine" light a few times, it flashed a sequence indicating a code of 2142. (2 flashes, pause, 1 flash, pause, 4 flashes, pause, 2 flashes, pause, then 1 long flash before cycling again) Any idea what this means? Thanks! Last edited by etta; 10-23-2004 at 05:48 PM. |

Re: 1989 Jetta Diagnostic Codes?
Defective oxygen sensor or wiring. You're lucky to have a California model in this case, others are much harder to diagnose.
