battery died

I should start out by telling everyone all the things that were messed up on my car before this happened. My rear defroster had not worked for over two years. My intermittant wipers and rear wiper have been nonfunctional for almost as long. Many of the lights on my dash such as the door ajar light and the light that reminds you that you are not wearing a seatbelt hadn't worked for roughly a year and a half. The chiming noise that occurs when you have the key in the ignition or the headlights are on and the car isnt hadnt worked for a pretty long time as well. The other day I go to start my car and it turns out the battery has died. At first I'm pretty irritated until I realize that all the things that have been messed up with my car for years are now suddenly working perfectly. Needless to say I was pretty excited. I bought a new battery because mine was pretty old and I didnt want to have to worry about it dying anymore. Why would this fix all the problems with the car? This is one of the best things that has happened to that car since ive had it.

Re: battery died

so after you fully recharged the battery did it just die the next time you parked it? and i can't see how a battery would relate to fixing all the problems that oy ulisted, because once the car is running, it's the altinator that keeps all the accessories going, the battery is just used to start the car and to run accesories when the car is off, but hey congrats on everything working again

I cant figure it out either. I have no explanation as to why this would happen. I didnt recharge the battery. I just had it jumped off and i drove to advance auto and got a new one because the battery had been in there since the car was new and needed to be replaced. Even before i got the new battery, all my stuff started working again. I noticed that when I tried to crank the car with the dead battery that my rear wiper was on.

Re: Re: Re: battery died

The central timer module (CTM) controls interior lights, intermittent wipers, rear defog, and some warning chimes, sounds like that is buggy - it is a rectangular module located on the back of the interior fuse box. I am wondering if anyone else has had problems with theirs, my 2000 Focus magically wont start - tried to boost but my CTM just clicks like crazy. I figure it has something to do with the gear selector not sending the "in park" signal - is it possible for a bad CTM to immobilize my ignition. In my car the locks are acting up (autolocks by itself when it is wet) so I may have an issue with the central locking modules.
