boost...
yes, you guessed it...this question is about boost, heh...
now when i installed my hallman mbc a few months ago, the instructions said to plug into the nipple on the turbo housing (reccommended method) and the other to the wastegate actuator. now everyone tells me i should have teed the hose for the mbc into the bov vacuum line...is this the best place for it even though the instructions for the mbc say otherwise? i do notice that i get boost spike every now and then, could this be a cause? also another question...as some of you already know from my previous threads, i've lost performance...i was pretty sure it was due to the exhaust....i replaced the cat with a high-flow, and there was no change....turns out, there was a nasty exhaust leak. i started my car cold on jacks, went under the car and felt around and found a bad ass leak. tried fixing it and it's much better but still leaks a bit...my downpipe is in HORRIBLE condition. could this bad downpipe be a cause to my loss in performance? i'm soon going to replace the whole stock cat-back with an Apexi N1 Turbo exhaust...i'm having my dad make me the exhaust tubing for it because he works in a steel mill....(i didn't get a cat-back, just the tailpipe)...but he's going to make it 3inch...that should be sufficient right? |

Anyway, in the "proper MBC install" on DSMtuners, HERE, you will see that you should use the BOV line (or other intake manifold vacuum line). Do you have a stock turbo? It spikes, that's normal. As for your performance loss, an exhaust leak doesn't seem to me like it would affect anything. In any case, once you get your full exhaust you should be able to find out. Make sure you have no boost leaks, using an intake leak tester: HERE |

Re: boost...
i T fitted the bov vac to the MBC, and ran a 8mm vac hose to the Turbo an ran a T fitting to the wastegate actuator. i'll try and find some pictures and edit this post with some websites. sorry to hear about your exhaust. your downpipe & leak-e exhaust sure might be your problem.
good install pictures http://www.belitski.com/cars/talonmo...aqhallman.html

Re: boost...
i was thinking about getting this downpipe.... http://www.machv.com/mavdo9fwdtu.html
my question is...it says in the description that it bolts up to most stock/aftermarket cats....but the picture looks like the whole downpipe replaces the cat and just runs straight back and doesn't use a cat....anyone have this downpipe or know if it WILL bolt up to a cat? because this sucker looks a lot longer than my stock downpipe and around here, i need a cat for inspection/emissions thanks for the replies |
