fuel filter clogged?

ok so i'll just go ahead and list everything i can think of whats wrong with my car right now and you guys can let me know what your opinions are...
1) about a month ago, i had my intake manifold port and polished... everything was good (we had a problem with some hoses mixed up initially, but we got it fixed...)

2) i filled up my tank one day, and my car stalled out and died... i went to start it up, but it wouldnt start up... so i revved it up a few times, and then it got me home atleast (rough though...)

3) went to start it up at my house shortly after, and my car was idling EXTREMELY low (like 300-400 rpm)... and it was stuttering violently.... and my check engine light came on (blinked like 9 times, then 12, and then 150+)

4) i had it towed to a car shop, and they replaced the spark plugs, wires, did a valve adjustment, and put in a bottle of Tecron fuel injector cleaner)... didnt replace the distributor or rotor because they said they looked alright... my car ran alright, until i had to fill up again.... and the cycle continued...

5) i got some new fuel injectors, but i havent put them in... also i picked up a new fuel filter... also havent put it in yet....

what are your guys thoughts on all of this? anybody have similar problems? sorry this is so long, but i would like an idea of whats wrong

Re: fuel filter clogged?

you should put in your new injectors and filter and report back. Is your CEL still on? If you aren't getting enough fuel it could be your fuel pump too, try to listen for it next time you go to start your car.

Re: fuel filter clogged?

take it to a pep boys or autozone and have them check what code it's throwing out.

i got my fuel filter put on and it runs a ton better... my CEL isnt back on (...yet.... knock on wood...)... and it runs about 75% better, still bogs a little on acceleration, still has a pretty low idle, but doesnt shutter and shake that much when its idling low like that... ALSO, when i was driving it, it wouldnt go above 5k rpms... it was like when my tach hit 5k rpm's, it would just hover there and not let me go any further... so do you think something is wrong with my vtec? or what? has this happened to anybody?

Re: fuel filter clogged?

won't let you rev past 5k...might want to check your distributor. My friend's teg wouldn't rev past 3500 rpm after he got a motor swap done. It was a loose wire that goes to the distributor. You can adjust your idle on the throttle body too.

Re: fuel filter clogged?

both, sounds almost like your car needs a basic tune up. Check the rotor while you're at it.

Re: fuel filter clogged?

I sometimes have that problem with the reving of the engine, but I have a dual carbed engine and it does that when it's cold, so I think gs is right and it's a simple connection problem.

Re: fuel filter clogged?

I had a problem with my 92 Civic not starting, especially when it was already warm. I replaced every thing fuel and ignition related. Finally discovered it was the fuel pump relay(under the dash), I carefully resoldered all the connections within the relay and zero problems since. Resoldering is better than a new relay because there was a manufacturing defect with the solder joints in that relay, and it gets worse when the relay gets hot.
