2002 montero sport brakes

My mother is coming up to visit this weekend and I plan on replacing the front brakes/rotors, but I was wondering if the pistons on the calipers compress, or do I need a tool to turn the pistons in. I know of Hondas that require a simple tool to do the job. This info would be nice to know so I can simplify the install(im getting married this weekend, I already have so much to do!!)
