A buddy of mine mentioned something to me about a special type of wir or somethin like that that i could hook up to my front speakers to block out the bass so that it only comes from the rear. does anyone know what hes talkin about? would this be easy to install or expensive? is it even a good idea or does it make much a difference. any info would be appreciated b/c i want to try to do this soon. if you dont know what im talkin about and need more info to help me out just ask. thanx

The device normally used to do what you are asking is a crossover network. High frequency tones are filtered and delivered to tweeters and midranges while the low frequency bass tones are filtered and delivered to speakers designed to handle them. It is not 'wiring' but a box inserted in between the existing radio and speaker wiring.

If you are planning to use stock speakers and radio from your Taurus there is no need to use a filter system since there is little bass or high end to worry about. It is not worth the time or money.

If you have an upgraded system then there may be some advantage to removing the bass from the higher frequency speakers if you can deliver it to low frequency speakers that are of decent quality that match your source. However, an upgraded system should usually be already using components that match each other (and use a crossover network) so you do not have to add something else.

Your head unit may have the feature you are looking for already built in. My son's head unit can treat the rears as woofers only, thus introducing the low pass filtering to them.

Agreed...

Your head unit might already have that feature built in. My Pioneer has the ability to activate a High pass filter (set to whatever frequency i pick), blocking all low tones to the fronts & rear 6x9's (In my case).

Otherwise, you can go to a Sound store and purchase inline resistors... they are used to block frequencies within a certain range... The Auto sound store should know what you're talking about. They are installed in the wire to the speaker (I can't rember if its the POS or NEG wire). Although, electronic crossovers are much cleaner & better sounding. The inline systems should be cheap.
