What is IROC?
Simply put, what is IROC? What does it add/take away?

IROC was an option for Camaro Z28's back from about 1987 - 1990. Back in those days there were like four different engine options on a Z28. Base was a 195-200 HP 305 V8, there was also a HO 220-225 HP 305 V8. Then there was the option for a 245 HP 350 V8 - which you could only get in an automatic. There were both 350 & 305 IROC's made back in those years.

LT1 is the V8 engine in 93-97 F-bodys, and 92-96 Corvette. It is an RPO code and also a name, like 1LE. It is a second generation small block.

LB9 is the RPO code for the Tuned Port Injection 305, L98/B2L is the RPO code for the 350 Tuned Port Injected engine.
the IROC package was an upgrade over the Z28, it had beefier sway bars, better springs, lowered ride height, larger wheels, better engine options, solid colors instead of two tone. and probably a few other ods and ends

ok ok ok....first off....the IROC is not just a mere Z-28...the IROC is a Z-28 with the "IROC" package which includes a different body kit, nosecone, taillights, and a stiff racing suspension. The option is available for Z-28s from 1982-1991...which has all the same bodystyles. The LT-1 engine wasn't only offered in the 93-97 F-bodies because my '82 has an LT-1 engine in it...it is the standard 305 V8 engine in 82-91 camaros. at least 1BAD305 was smart and knew what he was talking about! lol.....but n e wayz...have a good day cause i'm going to lunch....."yummmy....school lunch!"

I think everyone knows that there are several versions of LT1's as well as many other engines. When someone refers to an LT1 this day in age, they're referring to the engines in the C4 Corvettes, and the 93-97 4th Gen F-bodies. I've never once heard anyone refer to a 305 as an LT1. From the 3rd Gens it's always 305 and 350 since there were two V8's to choose from...

The International Race Of Champions competitions involve cars that are ALL identical, so it's all about the drivers skill. But I'm pretty sure the version they race is not a version we could buy.

there's more than one iroc race because it is international so it would make sense that there are other makes of cars that are iroc....

There was no LT1 in the 80's. The original LT1 was in the early 70's. It had around 300hp. In 92 chevy named their new engine the LT1 because it was the first engine of theirs to break 300hp since that time. Emissions put a damper on the performance market for a long time.
