Need Help wheres low end!??!

Hey everyone....I need more low end power. Does anyone know of the cheapest ways to do this? I am fine from about 4000 and up.....but anything below that, there is no power....whats up with that? I think I may need some back pressure, because I took out my muffler and straight piped it......is that the problem? Someone also told me to get the HS header instead of the $tillin one...because HS will also give me more low end......another thing.....would 91 cams give me better low end? Dont they give us like 6-8hp? I have a 93.5.......if you need anymore info to help me please let me know.....thanks everyone....also, does anyone need a set of stock springs? :alien: :licker: :smoka: :flash:

Here is Mike Kijoma had to say about it...

The Stillen Design has been changed to a short runner 4-1 design. Its power output is better according to Stillen but our testing resulted in nearly the same amount of power as the old design. This is surprising as 4-1 designs generally are better for top end power. The Stillen header still makes slightly more power below 3500 rpm than the Hotshot but the Hotshot outpowers it by at least about 4-5 more top end hp.

http://www.sr20de.net/car_info/engin...ce_tuning.html <--full articles here

On the 91 cams...According to SCC.
Average Power gain -1.2 Hp 2100 - 4400 rpm, +6.8 Hp 4400 - 7100 rpm

www.g20style.com/91intakecam.htm <--magazine scan from www.g20style.com

If you can afford it go with the JWT S3 they will give you more Hp across the whole power band.

Hope this helps...

Did you lose the low end after modding the exhaust? or is the low end the same as before?

You don't need back pressure, you need exhaust gas velocity. What size exhaust pipe is your system and what have you done with the cat?

I didnt do anything with my pipe size...it is still stock size....i believe 2.25 and I still have my cat....I am not planning on gutting that....maybe just getting a high flow cat.....as for before and after, I didnt think I lost power after the exhaust...its just that compared to the high end,....it really lags....and I dont like that. Thank you!:alien: :licker: :smoka: :flash:

No its very simple

!Adjusting ignition timing without a consult:

Turn Off engine and disconnect throttle position sensor harness connector. (TPS)
Start engine
Rev engine (2,000 – 3,000) 2 or 3 times under no-load, then run engine at idle speed
Check ignition timing with a timing light
Manual transmission 15 +/- 2° BTDC
Auto transmission on 95+ is the same spec, check the specs below for other models
Adjust ignition timing to the specified value by turning distributor after loosening bolts which secure distributor. Stop engine, and tighten the distributor (do not move it!). Restart engine and make sure the timing has not moved.
17 and 91 fuel

Anywhere between $80 to $200 depending on quality.

From Repco or similar.

They contain a strobe light that flashes in time with the spark plug firing.

Hook up to battery and No1 spark plug lead. Start engine, turn on strobe and point at the timing marks on and next to your crankshaft pulley.

What you will see is a line on the pulley (top dead centre line) next to the timing marks at the instant the spark plug fires. Read off the timing on the scale next to the pulley and adjust as necessary.

I have another question on advanced timing that maybe somebody could answer...

are there any benefits to advancing the timing on my P10 G? (even though it is stock other than intake)
is it worth the time/effort?
and finally....will it hurt my engine at all?

Thanks..

My understanding is thta advancing timing gives the gas longer to burn so it burns completly before the exhuast satge and this creating more power!! As far as I know as long as u dont go to far (as in the spark before the intake/comp stroke is complete) it wont harm ur engine at all...... I may be wrong there tho so talk to sum of the smarting guys of the forum for more info

Hope this helps
