b18b build up
hey guys, i just bought a b18b from a 92 integra ls. I have a 95 civic, and want to build this integra engine up and transplant it in. I asked this question in the civic forum, and haven't gotten any decent responses to the questions i have. I want to build this up all motor, no nitruos, turbo and i don't want to do the ls/vtec swap. i think i want to swap in ITR pistons, stainless steel valves, bronze valve quides, crower cams, vavle springs, and retainers. I am wondering if anyone can help me out with choosin an online place to buy, as well make recommendations as to which brands to buy? any help is much appreciated, as i am doing this build up myself and have never done aynthign like this before. thanks a lot.

Have you tried B17a.com He's got really good prices. You can also check the for sale forums on g2ic.com they always have lots of goodies for sale.

why dont you want to do the LS/Vtec swap? and why not turbo? your not gonna get boat loads of power out of just putting in new pistons and retainers and such.

jsut because the ls/vtec and turbo are just going to cost too much. I'm not looking for tons of power, i'm hoping to push around 180-200hp..i don't know if that is possible or not...opinions?

well, if your not lookin for lots of power, and cheap, new pistons and retainers and things of the like are the way to go.....i was just asking for my own sake why not turbo and the ls/vtec swap. good luck

is 180-200hp obtainable from building up a b18b, or should i set my sights a little lower?

180...maybe...200...wouldnt bet, well. not without spending way more money than a vtec would run you. my ls/vtec conversion cost me like 600bucks..
going new cams, valvesprings, valves, retainers...unless you are doing this all yourself is gonna cost you some major money. and if you are then the labor is just going to piss you off... you can get almost 190 out of an ls/vtec stock if you do it right. and it is a lot less work than an engine rebuild...just the piston job and valve job would run like a grand... |

180-200 is askin a bit too much out of the LS. You should start by some high c/r pistons, aggressive cams, new retainers and valvesprings, then a chipped ECU to optimize the high RPMs of the cams, and if your runnin high RPMs you might wanna get a block girdle. www.z10engineering.com

HOOKING UP THE B18 IS A GOOD IDEA. I HAVE A 94 INTEGRA THAT I'VE MODIFIED FOR UNDER $3000.I NOT GONNA TELL YOU WHAT I'VE DONE TO IT BUT I RAN 12.8'S IN ATCO NEW JERSEY( ALL MOTOR) LAST SUMMER. well, i'm want to keep it a b18b, i don't want to do any variation of a ls/vtec. I'll probably just do itr pistons, crower cams, aem cam gears, aem pulleys, aem cai, dc sports (or the like) header, 2.25 cat back exhaust. Think i can manage about 180whp? WHat do you all think?

YOU MIGHT WANNA CLEAN YOUR HEAD..AND YOU MIGHT WANNA GET A RACING CLUTCH.. I SUGGEST A JG STAGE 3..YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO PUSH 180 BUT AT HIGH RPM. THERE'S ALOT OF PEOPLE THAT THINK THAT JUST BECAUSE THEIR CAR HAS 200 HORSEPOWER OR 250 HORSEPOWER THAT ITS FAST. I MEAN YEAH IT'S FAST BUT AT WHAT RPM DO YOU NEED TO BE ON BE4 YOUR ACTUALLY DOING 200-300 HP. IN MY CAR MY RPM FLYS TO 8 BE4 I EVEN DROP TO SECOND GEAR..HONESTLY IF I WERE RACING A CAR FOR THREE MILES ON THE HIGHWAY I'D PROBABLY LOOSE..BUT IN THE 1/4 MILE ITS DIFFERENT CAUSE I HAVE HP AT THE FLYWHEEL ASWELL AS THE WHEELS..
