95 4X4 Rodeo Oil Pan Gasket
I need to do the oilpan gasket on my wife's Rodeo. How much of a headache am I looking at?
I've read that I'll need to drop some suspension components to access it. Is this true? I'm not used to working on foreign cars. (I drive/work on my 84 Dodge Ramcharger and my 84 C4 'Vette.) Any advice will be appreciated. I want to thank you folks on this board for the info re:"low oil pressure" and the oil pick-up screen. That's another question I had. One other question. The top end is noisy as hell when running. A friend of mine says it's the injectors. Does anyone else experience this? (I've got 'Crossfire' injection on the 'vette and the sound of those 2 injectors firing does sound similar.) Thanks all. |

As far as the oil pan goes. I was quoted $600.00 for it and the rear main seal on mine by a dealer.
The noisy top end is probably the lifters and has been covered a lot on these forums. Mine was pretty noisy when I got it at 53K and I started using Mobil 1 synthetic and it was really dirty for the first few changes. It is a lot queiter now than when I bought it. Also a lot of people have used seafoam to clean with. There are some threads about changing the lifters on this board that may help you out. I assume it is the 3.2 engine. Mike

Pretty sure either the motor has to be lifted, or stuff moved out of the way to get the upper oil pan off (big aluminum skirt/pan). The little stamped steel lower pan is a piece of cake. IIRC the aluminum pan is sealed with RTV from the factory, but an AM gasket is avail.
G/luck Joel
