i have a 96 grand am, and i ran a diagnoztic test and it said the map sensor was bad and something about it misfiring. the car wont start [period. how can u test the sensor and if the sensor is bad what does it do?

If the code says the sensor is bad just go ahead and change it. Once the sensor is changed you will probably find that the car will start. You will need to expand on your statement about the misfire, as far is size of engine, mileage and provide the misfire code number if you have it. All will be helpful in trying to determine what is going on!

It won't start? Do you mean when you turn the ignition switch to crank the engine, the engine won't even spin or the engine just spins and spins?

the car has 52,000 miles on it, and the code is PO300 for the misfire. the engine is a 2.4 twin cam
