Question '89 LTD (crown vic) ex police car stalls randomly

After just a few minutes of driving at cruising speed (anywhere from 45 mph up to 60), the engine loses power and dies. Some times I can put the car in neutral and re-crank the engine before I come to a stop. Other times it won't crank, I coast to a stop, and the car will crank immediately after stopping. I take off again, get up to cruising speed, and the same scenario repeats. Engine temperature was normal. The engine light did not come on unless the engine was off.

I think that it is a 351, but I am not positive. I am not home right now...I will check tonight and get back to you. Thanks/

Well without knowing anything about the car,, I would look at the fuel filter first.. I have had cars that would starve fuel and stall,, and start back up.

Thanks for the help...I figured out the problem. Turns out that it was the filter inside the gas tank. I had to order it from the local ford dealership. Thanks for your help.
