civic exhaust question

what is the difference between civic ex and dx exhaust besides the exhaust manifold/header. I f I were to buy an ex cat bach system, would it fit my dx with a mini me conversion?

DX manifold and catalytic converter are a single peice.
To use an EX exhaust, if you're still using the DX manifold, you'll need to have a pip extended from the opening of the EX exhaust to the opening of the DX manifold.

Or you can upgrade your entire exhaust all at once (which is what I did)... header for Civic EX, Civic EX catalytic converter, and Civic EX exhaust.

If you do use the DX manifold, then whether you've got the exhaust or not, the manifold is still restrictive as hell! You'd be getting the exhaust almost purely for the sound (which changes and gets louder once you're entire exhaust system is upgraded).

Save your money and upgrade everything at once!

Hey killa_crx is that a stock cat off a ex or is a high flow cat.... if its a high flow cat where did u mount it.... ive got the same prob

whether it's a stock or high flow one it'll mount in the same place, right after the header. You might have to have some pipes extended or shortened, but that's nothing a muffler shop can't handle.

It's an aftermarket catco cat... mounts the same as the stock EX cat... Not high flow, just stock replacement.

Whether it's an aftermarket stock replacement or aftermarket street legel hi-flow like a random tech. cat, they are mcuh cheaper than an OEM cat. And don't put in a used OEM cat, it's illegel to install a used cat on a car. Just make sure you buy a bolt in cat for an EX and not a universal one that "welds" to your OEM flanges. Since your DX manifold and cat are one peice, there are arn't flanges on both sides to re-use so to speak.

best idea would be to just replace the entire thing all at once. youre gonna save yourself some time and money as well as gain performance. get yourself a nice set of headers, a high-flow or replacement cat, and a good cat-back system. all of the stock components are just holding you back, so lose them. and as alwasy, stay away from ebay products.
