no high beam headlights

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the headlights do not work on high beam. The low beam works fine, but when you click to change to high beam there are no lights. The high beam indicator doesn"t illuminate either. I have tried replacing the bulbs and dimmer switch and no help. Is there a relay or something that makes sense. Thanks Jim O

Check the relay, refer to owner's manual for location.

Had that happen on my 93 XJ No Brights. Thought is was the dimmer switch checked out fine. The Problem turned out to be in the wirring harness. A juction block was corroded and wouldnt let the Brights work. The block was located under the Air Cleaner Box. Not sure if yours is same? My 96 ZJ is about the same place.

The very bottom ~ Fig. 50 The diagram shows two 15A and one 30A. I would check to make sure you are checking the right fuses. If you have a multimeter, check your voltages and your grounds to find out what is not getting power or ground. I wish ya the best of luck finding it.

Is your dimmer switch activating all the way? Some are adjustable to let the rod push in the switch all the way. With a test light or DVOM check to see if you have any volt comming out of the bright side of the switch. If not run a jumper to the hot side of the dimmer to the bright wire, and see if you have brights. When you said no luck on junction was it not under battery box or was the harness OK?

Re: no high beam headlights

This Happened to me before (93). Changed headlight assembly (needed new ones). The new ones came with new bulbs.Did u try getting new bulbs or checking the bulb base for corrosion. When lights dont work bulbs are the first to be checked.

Try running down circuit L3 from the Body control module to the DayTime Running Light Module located under the power distribution center on right fender under hood. Circuit L3 on some JGC powers the High Beam. Also check fuse 13 in the PDC.

Re: no high beam headlights

I found the harness, but I didn't see a plug that would arouse suspession. In your manual, did you see a relay, or specific fuse that could be the culpret. Do you know where I could find a good electric diagram?
