need help with cruise control and window regulator

I have a 2000 LeSabre Custom with 66,000 miles. Today while going to work on the intestate the cruise control just cut off. The only way it will come on and work is if I hold the button in. The button is on the bottom left of the steering wheel. I'm assuming the switch is bad. How does it come off of the wheel or if it isn't the switch what could it be? Question #2 Who might sell a power window regulator assembly for less than the dealer? Probably will be going to the junkyard this week if the have one there 00 LeSabre Thanks for any info.

Re: need help with cruise control and window regulator

there are three ways that the cruse control will disable itself under normal condisions(meaning no sneaky gremlins in the electrical system), the switch you are talking about, the brake switch, and the transmission range selector. a bad brake switch you could tell by just looking at the tail lights, and a bad range selector would cause driveably problems(trans wouldn't shift). assuming the switch is mounted on the turn signal arm, then on most cars the steering wheel needs to be removed from the shaft to remove the multi-function switch, including removing the air bag. if the switch is actuilly on the wheel next to the air bag, then i don't know. etherway, i do not recommend a DIYer to touch the air bag system - and for good reason. take it to the dealer.

Re: need help with cruise control and window regulator

I had a neat cruise control problem in my 1995 many years back. Whenever driving down the highway with the cruise control engaged, if you turned on the A/c the cruise control would die. Only way to get it back was to stop and shut off the engine.

Turns out it was something to do with one of the temperature sensors that controls the cooling fans. There's apparently two, and both can cause problems with the cruise. When the A/c was engaged, the second cooling fan kicked on, which changed something else, which affected the vacuum system maybe... whatever, the cruise died and that's just dumb. LOL

The window regulator? You mean the... "express module." That thing that makes the drivers window roll itself down without having to hold the switch? Little black box located inside the drivers door. You find one at a junkyard, I'm sure they'll sell it to you. Hell, I bet Auto Zone will sell you a new aftermarket one for a third what the dealer will sell you an OEM one.
