PGM-FI confusion

I opened my PGM-FI cover and noticed that it doesn't match the diagram in my manual..Instead of a rounded cover over the intake it is bare, just the intake..what is the piece missing called and where could I find it?

Re: Re: Re: PGM-FI confusion

on the back of the car(hatch),it should say what model,
if it doesnt, then its a std,
std's came out with the round black box too,

open the cover, their should be a gold screen,
their should be a gold plate in front of the intake hole,
take that out,I know alot of people that did,
it opens up the hole alot more,
but besides that, thats everything in it,

Re: PGM-FI confusion

well if he has a pgm-fi cover... its obviously is dpfi, mpfi doesnt have any covers. I think he is talking about the screen filter piece inside of it because he said he took the cover off.... If this is what your talking about dont worry about it as long as your running an air filter, it just keeps stuff from falling into the intake manifold.

AH! Exactly. Thank you. I am getting my cold air intake any day so I won't worry then. Should I remove the gold flap that he is talking about previously or should that stay on as well? Thanks guys! This forum kicks.

Re: PGM-FI confusion

The little V shaped thing? I'm not sure if it does much at all, I'v taken mine out and couldnt tell any differne. I'm pretty sure its made to split the air so it flows into the hole more evenly, I'v seen stuff similar to that on supercharged/turboed V8's that run blow though carb setups, the carb hats would have a V like thing made onto them so the air splits and flows more evenly. But like I said, I took mine off and couldnt tell a differnce, so I dont think it matters much.
