EGR Thermo Valve?

Just wondering if anyone has had this go bad on their EGR valve. This is the reason why my check engine light is on and to replace the thermo valve it's going to be $43 at the dealer only.

Re: EGR Thermo Valve?

Don't know anything about a thermo valve, but I had the same problem, ENGINE CHECK LITE on..Only thing I found was gas milage dropped a little to about 21 MPG combined. A dealer test said it was a bad EGR valve. A dealer item only. I will replace soon and let you know how it went....

Re: EGR Thermo Valve?

You can test the Check Engine Light yourself you'll just need to get a Haynes Manual or something like it so you'll know what the code is. Mine was the thermo valve and the way to tell is to start your truck when it's been sitting and gotten cold. When you start it up, put your fingers on the underside of the EGR valve and then rev the engine to about 2500 RPM and if you feel movement, then your thermo valve is bad and the part is $43 and you can only get it at a dealer.
