don't get a header if you are going to get a turbo, the turbo manifold will replace it and it's just wasting a good $400 that could go towards the turbo kit. Revhard makes the best turbo kits IMO. For exhaust go with a custom one. Carsound high flow cat, 3 inch piping, and an Apex'i N1 turbo muffler.

custom exhaust? Cause you can save yourself about $200. Turbo exhausts are expensive. The the carsound cat should cost about $100, Apex'i N1 turbo muffler about $200 and piping and install shouldn't be more than $100. That's only $400 and you can have the muffler shop bend you the straightest exhaust route possible. Most of the turbo cat backs i've seen go for $600 and thats without the highflow cat.

Gottcha I was just wondering why a custom one would be better then purchasing one. I guess price is the benefit here not so much performance.

yah it's all about price, but performance shouldn't differ much, if at all, between the two.

not if you mount it high. The ones that rub are the catbacks. They have the piping at an angle so the piping rubs. But if you just get the muffler and custom piping bent you won't rub

you dont need 3 inch piping, 2 1/4 would work fine and still clear with lowering the car, 2 1/2 if you really want too, but 3 inch isnt really necessary....

on a turbo, you will choke it using 2.25". It'll spool faster with 3" piping

Re: planning for a B18B1 swap, need help!

I heard that high flow cats can cause torque loss, or is it straight pipe? Anyone heard this before?

Re: planning for a B18B1 swap, need help!

any part of your exhaust system that you replace to reduce back pressure will give you torque loss.

A lot of turbo cars you will see re-routing their wastegate dump tubes back into their exhaust to increase back pressure and supposedly it helps with boost spike.
