FACTORY keypad code stolen

I had my truck broken into and the factory keypad code stolen from the glove-box with my registration. Whoever broke into it now has unfettered access to my truck since they know the master code and my address. It's an '02 Explorer. Is there any way to reprogram the module with a new master code? The two options I have been given by the local ford dealer are: a) buy a new car, or b) buy a new module (which is too expensive for them to accurately provide a quote). Obviously, I'm not too happy with either option. If the factory code can't be reprogrammed, is there a way to delete it or disable the keypad on the door so I can regain the security of my vehicle?

Additionally, I was apparently mis-informed by the Dealer, and the convenient pocket in the manual zipper-case is the WORST place to store the keyless entry code for the simple reason I am now experiencing. But hey, at least Ford quick putting the sticker on the door/trunk for all the world to see.....

Just have a new tumbler installed in the
driver's door with a seperate key,
and disable the other locks with Super Glue, & tooth picks.
It's not a perfect solution, but it is cheaper
then the other options you mentioned.

I saw this webpage whilst surfing, it shows how to change the factory code on a Taurus SHO. Maybe the procedure is similar?

Go to page 125 of yor owners manual ,It gives you step by step on how to put your own could in. chris

I think that the factory code remains active even if you reprogram your personal code. Couldn't you unplug from the door keypad? When you sell the Explorer, you can reattach the wire and nothing "invasive" would have to be done such as disabling the keyless entry, changing the locks, etc.

How about going to the wrecking yards and find a similar explorer and get that security module and install that into your own explorer. My guess is that this is cheapest solution. Here's a link complete with pictures on it's location.
