Starting Issue

I've been having quite a time with this vehicle.

At first it wouldn't start at all, so I replaced the starter, after a few tries at starting it, the starter then made this cool whining/grinding noise as if it were missing the flywheel completely or hitting a space where there weren't any teeth. I then took off the starter to investigate the flywheel. The flywheel looks fine, in fact great, all the teeth are in great condition, after putting the starter back on, and about 3 key-turns attempting to start it, it did the exact same thing with the same noise.

I drove it home after push-starting it, and it runs great...I just wish I could start it so I could drive it more often. '84 Bronco II, 130,000 original miles, 2,8 V6 I belive.

Anyone have any suggestions, same problem, or a solution? Any help is greatly appreciated as I'm at the end of my limits with this thing.
