rubbing with new tires
Hi i got my new tires on about a month ago have used them offroad and love them. I have one problem on the passenger side they are rubbing a plate that is against the body in the back of the wheel well. I was wondering what this plate is for and if i can take it off. Also i wont to say it is possible to get 285 75s on a 1 1/2 lift. One other thing i was wondering is if i get aftermarket wheels that make the tires stick out more will they rub thanks

Re: rubbing with new tires
The panel protects your fuel line. I wouldn't remove it. If you're having rubbing offroad and are offcamber or something, I wouldn't worry about it, just keep an eye on it If it happens on the highway, you have a problem.
What's a 1.5" lift? Do you just have shackles or something? |

Re: rubbing with new tires
That plastic cover is pretty unnecessary, mine's busted into 2 pieces with more holes in both, and I know many that have just removed it. Don't worry about it.
Don't change a thing about your wheels, those 285-width (nearly 11.5") tires can only just tuck into the rear wheel wells. Switch to anything that will move them further out, and you'll get rubbing here: ![]() That was just from the factory +40mm offset 15x7 wheels to older Nissan 15x7s with 25mm offset (.6" further out) with the same 32x11.50-15 tires. Yours are as big if not bigger (15" or 16" wheel?) and are going to be as tight or even tighter fit. If anything, you could install bumpstop extensions for the rear to limit the uptravel a bit. Ya i just have a shackle lift and t bar crank. The tires i got blow i wouldnt recomend them. For the money theres good but the offroad sucks. I got the 285 75 sport king steel radials they look good and at the shop i thought they would be alot like the bfgs (but for half the price) but living in southern oklahoma the nasty clay mud they dont self clean for anything. Every time i go offroad they clog within a few minutes. Also what are the downtravle things you where talkin about in the rear??

Re: rubbing with new tires
Downtravel? Nobody mentioned downtravel.
I know the Sport Kings, and they do vaguely resemble the BFG AT, but they're not even close. Not that the BFG AT would do you much better in the clay you mentioned. You really need a mud tire or better for that, any AT will slick up in mud/clay. |
