1997 grand caravan dashboard backlight

Why me. The backlight for the speedo, gas, etc. on the instrument dashboard is out. I read at Consumer Reports that this is a problem area due to a bad relay for the 97. However, finding the author or specific source that said it was a problem is a problem. I understand after talking to the 5 star dodge dealer that no such relay exsists. Anyone have a similar experience with thier 97?

Re: 1997 grand caravan dashboard backlight

I am trying to figure out the same problem on my 98 Plymouth Grand Voyager. I still have the lights for my odometer and gear shift. Although they flicker. I have tried putting in a new dimmer switch assembly, but that did not fix my problem. Keep searching and let me know if you figure this out.

Have you tried pulling the IOD fuse which feeds continuous power to the BCM which then feeds the cluster lamps or you can try pulling the battery cables for like 30 seconds and put them back on if you haven't tried that yet . Had a problem where all the guages just stopped working and pulling the IOD fuse in the PDC under the hood fixed the problem .
