Exclamation Exhaust tail pipe help for 91 Plymouth Voyager

Ok..so my husband thought he would save us money by replacing my muffler himself. He bought the muffler and 2 clamps. The old clamps were a bear to get off but he got them. He couldn't get the old muffler to budge so he used a sawsall to cut each end off . He got the front connected no problem. He went to attatch the back of the muffler to the pipe and it won't fit :22yikes: . Apparently there was a bit of a flareout on the end of the pipe that isn't there any more because he cut the muffler off. Is there anything we can do to attach the two without having to buy new pipe and resonator?

measure the inside and outside of both the muffler and tailpipe, go to the autoparts store, they will have short peices of pipe designed to fit two pipes of the same size together, if unsure ask sales person for help, if they don't want to go to another store ....... sounds like your the one who should have done the work
