Oil leak '96 2.2 motor

I have a '96 Camry with the 2.2 4cyl that has recently developed a fairly bad oil leak. It only leaks when running, but will leak almost a teaspoon of oil at idle for about 5 minutes. The leak is dripping from the passenger side lower rear corner(by the timing case) of the motor. Yesterday, I jacked the car up and used brake cleaner to clean everything off. Let it run for about 5 minutes and oil started to accumulate around the lower portion of the timing case cover. Since I'm working on my back, I can't really tell if the leak is at the timing cover or above it. Are there any components above that area that could account for the leak?

thanks in advance,
Mike

Not much in that area. Could be your valve cover gasket, or more likely the camshaft seal.

Pull your top timing chain cover off & take a peak, if it is wet then dito on the camshaft seal... Change out your timing belt & ask them to change out this seal while in there.... Might also get a new water pump while you are at it... Keep us posted on waht you find.... Bob
