Repainting Die Cast

Well, I ordered a Maisto 1/24 die-cast kit of a 1999 Ford Mustang (one with the nonfunctional scoop head and side vents) and I plan on making it and giving it to my cousin, who drives the real thing.

Problem is, it's molded in yellow metal. I was thinking of spraying it with automotive primers, then spraying it automotive silver (color of my cousin's car.)

Anyone see any problems with this, or am I good to go?

Are you going to dissassemble it first?

I have a Viper model that was one of the kits with pre-painted metal body from Testors. It came with instructions for re-painting the body. I'll see if I can find the instructions for you later when I get home...

You just treat it like a plastic kit, except you use a normal auto primer instead of the plastic one.
Make sure you smooth the rough edges you normally get on die casts too!
