?

So I need some more bass. But subs and a amp sound way to expensive and like to much work and money for that matter. So I'm thinking about just installing a Sub tube in my trunk. Is this a smart idea, or will I not be able to hear the bass becuase it isnt located in the interior of the car. I have been told that the tube were originally designed to be used in pick up trucks becuase they have no trunks and the tube would fit nicely behind the seats. All I'm looking for is more bass but nothing extreme, I don't to be heard blocks away. So is this a good idea?

Re: ?

here is an idea if u have good speakers in the car bye a 100 watt amp and hook it to your rear speakers this will give u a nice sound that u will enjoy but not be too loud and u probably won't spend any more than a tube

Re: ?

Do you mean that you dont have an amp, and you just want to install a bass tube? You have to have an amp for that. Which means you need to run a wiring kit through your car too. A friend of mine bought the bass tube and put it in the trunk of his corrola. It was decent. He got the 70 dollar bass tube from wal mart. I did not like the sound quality of it, but for 70 bucks... eh. You said in another thread, dont just buy the cheapest because you wont be happy with it. If you want it to sound nice, dont buy a bass tube. It will sound kind of muffled. You have to have an amp, and since you will have an amp, you may as well get a decent 12" sub and build a box for it. Not much work in my opinion. Wal Mart may have pre built 12" boxes, so if youre lazy when it comes to sound systems, just get a sub, a wal mart box, and at least like a 250 watt amp. If you work on the engine, then the basics of building a sound system should be a breeze for you. If you want help or more advice just ask me, all I do is work on my stereo on my 96.

Re: ?

oh yeah. Well, Im a car audio buff, so I wouldnt even think about using a bass tube, but it doesnt seem like its that big of a deal to you, so I say go for it. You'll probably enjoy it.

Yea I was looking at a 200 watt Bazooka tube that is already amplified. In regards to the quality comment that I made in the other thread, I was mostly talking about the head unit because those break easily. And I'm not really that picky about the sound. Don't get me wrong I think it should sound good, but I have little audio experience to I wouldn't know the difference anyhow.

Re: ?

bazooka tubes are decent. I was thinking at first that you were talking about a cheap little bass tube from wal mart or something, so I had to try to ward you off into a different direction. I've heard a car that had 2 bazooka tubes, and it was pretty loud.

Re: ?

This is an area of personal preference. In a truck I would have bazooka tubes in my bird I have one ten, but I'm working on getting two tens in a bandpass box being pushed with around 700-800 watts.

Re: ?

here is what i have. 800 watt dual ch. m/a amp and two 12" m/a subs. in a custom made box. this sounds very good and gives off alot of bass. then to top it off i have installed two 6x9s in rear window and hooked a 250 watt amp to these. and is powered by a $350 blau cd player. very nice sounding system. just to give u an idea what my car sounds like :-)

what kind of tens are you getting? thats a lot of watts for a band pass box. Band pass boxes are typically designed for low wattage systems because they are most efficient for small power output. It really depends on the subs you have, but Id say about 130 watts rms to each sub would be very sufficient. (just in case you were thinking about buying a beefier amp, and you dont really need to)

I personally have 2 12" xplods (being upgraded very soon) in a 3 cubic ft ported box w/ dual chambers, (will be replaced when I get new subs), 1200w peak sub amp, and a 4 channel clarion amp which is giving me 100wx4 @ 2ohm to my 6 6x8s (one pair in rear deck) and pair of kenwood tweeters, topped off with Sony CDX-M630 head unit. My highs are very nice, but my xplods are over 2 years old, and they arent good anymore. They used to bump quite nicely though. I think I may be getting 2 Audiobahn Aluminum series 12's and building a custom box for them within a month or so.
