map sensor

I have a 92 s-10 blazer with the vortec. Recently it started acting up on me. It wants to cut off, comes close, but never does. It also consumed a tremendous amount of gas until i replaced my map sensor. I got my fuel economy back which is a pluse, but it still "studders" even when I am idling. One more thing, evrytime it starts to die my exhuast had a "bubble" or "missing" sound to it. Its real annoying sitting at red lights and haveing people stare at me when my engine almost dies it surges so it looks like im trying to race them. Please any suggestions?

Re: map sensor

Clean and replace you IAC and EGR valve.

Remove your IMTV valve in the top of your engine under the Vortec plate and check for gas smell and washing inside.

Look for pools of gas in there too.

Re: map sensor

Idle Air Control Valve

Allows a metered amoutn of air in to control idle.

Clean your IAC and reinstall.

clean your EGR and reinstall with a new gasket.

Look for leaks in the upper plenum.

Also, buy a repair manual for your truck. It will save you 1000s.

I agree with you there, I DO own a haynes manual and is very helpful.

Ok I recently did clean my egr valve and replace the gasket.

How do I go about checking for leaks in the plenum? (soapy water?)

Where is my IAC located? on top od the intakeplenum?

Is the IMTV that little round sencor under the vortec plastic?
And are you implying maybe my spider, i think they call is faulty, because i payed $500 to repair this 2 years ago.

And finally where did u find that bad ass air intake I cant find one any where? How much did it cost you if u dont mind me asking?

Sorry so many questions I am very interested in getting my truck back to normal, any help would be greatly appreciated, I think I can trust ur judgement blazerLT u seem like a very smart guy when it comes to blazers!

Did you clean it with throttle body cleaner and made sure the pintle was seating properly before reinstalling it?

I meant looking into the IMTV valve under the vortec plate INTO the upper plenum.

Yes, the round thing is the IMTV is a valve under the vortec plate. Remove it and take a good flashlight and look into the upper plenum and smell for gas and look for clean golden areas that were washed clean from the leaking Injector in the small area you can see on the passenger side area inside the plenum.

If you smell gas it is your internal fuel line kit or the CPI injector has gone again.

Ebay is the best place to find these intake.

Here is the cheaper ones that do very well for the cheap price they have:

And here are some K&N's like mine for our year.:

ok i removed the imtv looked in its very dirty and a faint very faint sent of gas is present no clean golden area u speak of just lots of dirty fuel lines. do u think this eliminates the faulty fuel line theory?
And another thing i cleaned my iac and noticed the springy part of it movd very little with great force is this normal? I appreciate any help.

Re: map sensor

You have to remove the IAC again and make sure from flange to tip it is 1.10inches (28mm).

Don't do that again.
