what to buy: USDM 300zx TT or JDM Fairlady 2+2TT
I'm looking into either buying a USDM 300zx or importing a TwinTurbo Fairlady from Japan. Can you guys help me decide on which route to go?
Thanks! |

um...you wont be able to drive the JDM until you get it legalized. works just like skylines. so i say go with the USDM and save yourself the pain and heart ache, if you can even find someone to legalize it. i dont know if motorex does z32TT legalizations but i dont know of another legit legal importer.

They are the same car. There is almost no difference beides LHD/RHD. There is no reason whatsoever to import a JDM 300ZX unless you just have to have that offical JDM stamp on it. If you want a twin turbo 2+2 then just swap a motor. Be a damn site cheaper then finding and legalizing a JDM.

re: 300zx vs Fairlady
Well since I am in Canada, I will be able to import a 1990 Fairlady next year since we are allowed to have 15 year old imports here.
So the legal thing isn't an issue at all and it basically just comes down to which car would be better. But if there aren't any big differences other than being able to get the 2+2 TT then i guess it dosen't matter to much which way i go. |

yeah it doesnt matter. unless you want an extra book shelve behind your seat. i say just save your money buy yourself a very nice low mileage TT and just mod the living hell out of it with the money you saved.

Well given your situation, if you just have to have a Twin Turbo 2+2 then if may well be easier to import than to swap. Read up on the swap, especially on some prices, and then check how much to import an good condition TT 2+2. And see what kind of assurances you'll have that you will be getting a good car. Nothing would suck worse to spend all the time and money on getting the car over here only to have it break a timing belt and wreck the engine. With the swap option you have a little more control and you can upgrade at the same time if you choose to. However, if you can't do the swap yourself then you may be looking a labor costs that would make waiting for a good import the smarter option. Take your time, do alot of research and be happier as a result.
