1992 Cherokee blower motor

Hello I am new to this forum, I am looking for help on the blower motor in my Cherokee. The blower motor has stopped working, I have tested the following I am getting power to the fuse(blower) The blower motor will run if I run a hot wire to it fom the battery. I have changed out the heater control panel on the dash for one that I know works. The a/c relay is good under the hood. ???? Any suggestions. Thanks

Are you getting power to the control panel? If so, is there another relay in your dash after the control panel? The A/C relay only controls the compresor clutch.

Re: 1992 Cherokee blower motor

I have tested the wires going into the control panel and only one wire shows any signs of voltage (3 something volts) I trace the wires from the back of the fan switch to the right in front of heater core is this a blower motor resistor? Where is the other relay I should be looking for? Thanks

Re: 1992 Cherokee blower motor

It's a good chance that the motor is frozen up.
That's what happened to mine.

If your blower motor is anywhere near where my '88 blower motor is, it's right under the coolent tank that's mounted on the passenger side of the firewall. It's a piece of cake to replace and not all that expensive.

Re: 1992 Cherokee blower motor

I ran a hot wire to the motor and it spins freely and sounds great. Thanks

Re: 1992 Cherokee blower motor

on my '93 the relay was on the passenger side down near the blower and just to the left. all you can see is the backing -its about 2"x2". i think it only has two screws.

Hope this helps - although not very descriptive!

Re: 1992 Cherokee blower motor

Thanks ferncreekjeep! I still do not see a relay there I have the lower portion of the dash removed. I do find something not sure of name with two screws, I thought this was a resistor (it has three little coils springs and some type of electrical diode on the backside. Is this what you are referring to? Thanks

Re: Re: 1992 Cherokee blower motor

That's the motor speed control resistor assembly. That could cause the motor to not run if it is burned out. I didn't see this question asked, but did you try the speed control switch on the dash to see if any of the speeds work or not?

Re: 1992 Cherokee blower motor

yea, but did you change that speed(resistor) pack that's under the dash at the same time?
