Question 97 Expedition Brakes....Nooo good !Heeeelp!!

The brakes on my 97 Expy are bad... Spongy...sometimes pedal is hard sometimes reaches the floor. I changed the 4 rotors and the pads, nothing. Put a new master cylinder, nothing.Bleeded it several times still nothing. when at low speed works good. Overf 3o MPH would slow down but would not stop right away. Can anyone help...? I am afraid to drive it. Please help.. THANKS.

You probly need to bleed the antiloc brake hydralic control unit...when you open the system this must be done...you will need a scan tool to activate the hcu when bleeding it...hope this helps

Re: 97 Expedition Brakes....Nooo good !Heeeelp!!

Last time I checked, the anti-lock unit (HCU) and controller (ECU)(they're not sold separately) was about $1500. No rebuilts, no aftermarket replacements.
Ford gets 4 hours to replace one, so figure that in too.

Best to let a professional tangle with the HCU.
