Help lt1 is blue smokin

Hey my 93 firebird lt1 is puffin blue smoke but only when i let off and push the cluch in to shift. This is a fairly new motor and it dosn't use eny oil. What am i looking at to be wrong? at times its prety bad but it sounds and run fine just puffs blue when i up shift? eny ideas would be great. thxs

Isn't it obvious? Paint your car to match, say that the smoke is a really expensive mod, and make everyone wish they had it

I believe blue smoke means coolant is seeping into the combustion chambers. That is caused by worn rings or a busted head or manifold gasket iirc. What kind of mileage is on the motor?

Blue smoke is oil. How new is the motor? Valve seals can have a small leak, valves may not be seating, valve guides may be messed up. Does it blow any smoke when you start it up in the morning?

blue smoke is always oil. When you press in the clutch to shift all of the pressure holding the top ring and the second ring to the side of the cylinder walls withdraws. The oil ring can only do so much and when the other rings arent seated oil can get up abouve the rings into the cumbustion process and therefor create blue smoke. It would make sense that this problem was only be when your driving the car really hard. I hope this helps

sorry it took me so long to reply. But thxs for all ur help. the motor has about 7,000 miles on it. so will this be hurting my engin if i don't get it cheaked out?? also when i get on it in first and go to shift to 2nd my oil pressure just shuts off and goes to 0 for like 30 sec and then slowly comes back up? wtf is that all about? thxs pls help!

Sounds like there is a problem with the lubricating system. Did they put a new oil pump in the engine when it was rebuilt? 0 psi for any time is a problem. Have the oil pressure checked with a gauge and go over the lubricating system. I wouldn't drive it much until I knew why and had it fixed. Not good at all.

If your oil pressure is dropping to 0 for 30 seconds, then you're probably going to wear out your internals fast. What kind of oil are you running in it? I've heard of this happening before, a similar situation happened to me, and a lot of times its just there's too much, too little, or too dirty of oil in the engine (or wrong type). So an oil change MIGHT be all you need to fix the problem. With only 7,000 miles on the engine, it's possible that it's a manufacturing error (oil pump malfunction, oil passage blocked), but i'd start small.

In any case, throw some Mobile 1 in there after you get it fixed. Your engine will say 'ahhhhhhhh'

if your oil pressure drops to 0, you run the risc of permentally blowing your engine, it will seize up... check the oil pump and cange the oil and the filter. try a heavier oil, if the oil is too thin, it is easier for it to sneak up into the cylinders. you shold also check the clutch and the clutch fluid, u might be burning the clutch fliud if its too low.
