Which Quadrajet for Ram Air I?

I have a 67 Firebird with a 73 400 engine and I want to add ther original Ram Air kit. It has an automatic, Hei distributor and slight cam. Right now I have a Holley but I want a Quadrajet that is right for the Ram Air kit. I know the 73 carbs were detuned and the Ram Air wouldn't fit it anyway. I need a Quadrajet 70????? number that would be the right one and work. Any ideas?

Re: Which Quadrajet for Ram Air I?

7027267 would be correct for a manual transmission, 7027268 would be correct for auto trans. However, there is no such thing as a Ram Air in Firebird in '67. '68 was the first true "Ram Air" car. There were some dealer add-ons for GTO, but I've never seen one in a Firebird (doens't mean it nver existed, just not noted). The "kits" from the resto houses include '67, as all the '68 parts will fit it. Also, the price of one of these GTO or Firebird carbs will scare you! The restoration crowd is hot for "correct" carbs.
The '67 Q-Jet is 730 CFM. The '73 is 800 CFM. The '73 can be modified to be excellent in a high performance application, by enlarging the idle and part throttle circuits (much better than ANY of the pre-'72 stuff). Cliff's Q-Jets is where it should go. As for fitting the Ram Air bonnet? Well, a 5/8" drill bit can make quick work of that! The only issue to fit it, is the vent pipe sticking up into the air cleaner housing.
