i was wondering if you could help me with something, im in the military in japan at the moment and ill be back in mississippi in dec, ill have 6k saved up to dump into my 85' honda prelude, it has 170k on a rebuilt engine, manual 1.8L it runs great but id like to beef it up, what do u think i should do? i have a muffler and air filter on it. i wanna get headers/high flow cat/wheels/spoiler/airbags/bodykit but 1st i wanna work on the engine
i was gunna bore it out port polish but i think that would be a waste i think. should i just get a new V-tech and drop it in???
if i get the V-tech will i have enough money to do anything else to it?? thank you for your help

Re: should i drop a v-tech in my 85 lude?

you can drop a 96 JDM H22a for around $2500...WELL worth it... 2.2 Vtec is mondo improvment over 1.8...you will be pulling 200 horses no questions...add a nice AEM cold air intake($200), DC header($250) and decent catback exhaust($250-350) and you will fly. Add turbo if you really want to have fun ($2500). Send me pics if you do!!!

Re: should i drop a v-tech in my 85 lude?

H22A will not drop readily into the 3rd gen. $2500 would roughly be the price of the engine and tranny ALONE.

With 6k, I'd almost be inclined to tell you to get a different platform to work on. There are better (cost effective) cars out there.
