s2000

ok,i was reading an old mag and there was the mugen S2000 vs the honda S2000. well the regular S2000 was $33k, and the mugen was $56k. the regular s2000 had 200hp and the mugen 215hp . i thought there was nobody who will pay $23k more for a set of wheels and 15hp, but im just wondering who will pay that much for that little?? so basically the question is.. mugen S2000 or S2000?

Re: s2000

what else is done to the mugen? its not always power companies are upgrading, they could be also upgrading suspension and stuff like that, they could also be lightening the car with more expensive materials.

Re: s2000

stickers seem to do it, hahaha. but they do get people to race you. my brother has a '94 saturn sc2 and he put a banner on his windsheild and his rear window and has couple of mod (gonna get a cold air this week and cat back exhaust next week). ever since he got his banners, people have wanted to race him more. its weird.

Re: s2000

Problem number one...the S2000 should have stock...240hp crank...

Problem number two...the S2k doesnt respond well to mods...ppl slap on exhaust and intakes and usually dont get much more than 4 hp...which when you spend like 1000 on an exhaust and problem like anywhere from 150-300 on an intake...you feel really shafted...

Also same thing w/forced induction...ppl who slap on superchargers or turbo's dont get more than 100hp...which is nice...but obviously ppl want more than that...

Problem is...the S2k is tuned out!

Re: Re: s2000

yeah, i think we all know that, but my question is...Is it worth it? i personally think its just better to get a stock s2000, but i just wanted to see who thinks different.

Re: s2000

Well the S2k is really not a tuner's car...you can do suspension, brake work, wheels and tires...but power wise...it's not going to get over 1000hp like a Skyline or Supra will...then again...it's a 30k car...not a 45k-50k like the Skyline and Supra were in their respective markets

Upsides of the S2k are it handles very well...it's RWD...relatively light (2800 lbs) by car standards today...and it looks good...

But I cant wait for a coupe version...lol

i do agree with you. it seems that most aftermarket tuners aks way too much for their preupgraded cars.

you can get equal if not better performance for way less but of course you have to invest quite a bit of your own time and effort

also you don't get the warranty some of them offer

Well, since there are people dumb enough to spend $90,000 on an NSX I am sure there are people dumb enough to spend $56,000 on an S2000 with 15 more horsepower.

Is it worth it? I think that is a very rhetorical question. I don't think the stock $30,000 S2000 is any where near worth it.
