Skyline Frame...

Does the Skyline share a frame with any other cars? Like the Inifiniti G35?

Re: Skyline Frame...

The G35 is the Skyline. Which ones are you talking about? I dont know about the older ones, but the newer ones, like the G35, share its chassis with the 350Z. But I dont know about the older ones.

Re: Skyline Frame...

The current Skyline is based on the same chassis(FM platform) as the G35. They are even based on the same variant of the FM. Some of the main differences between the two cars are engine/transmission choices, badging and lhd vs rhd.

Re: Skyline Frame...

Well, let me extend my question...

do the R32's share these same qualities? G35 coupe and 350z having the same frame?

Re: Skyline Frame...

No, the R32-R34 are not FM-based. The current V35 Skyline was the debut of the FM platform. There hasn't been a GT-R based on the FM yet.

The G35 and Skyline sedans are the basic form of the FM. The G35 and Skyline Coupes use a wide-track version. The 350Z uses a short-wheelbase variant of the wide-track.

Re: Skyline Frame...

I don't know. Maybe a Stagea, if there was one around back then.

I'd very much doubt that any vehicles using the same chassis were sold in the US.

Re: Skyline Frame...

No. The rwd Nissan cars that were in the US probably didn't share a chassis with the Skylines.

The Z31 Nissan 300ZX and F31 Infiniti M30/Nissan Leopard, which used the same chassis.
The Nissan 240SX was by itself, I think.
The Infiniti Q45 was based on the Nissan Cima, and shared a chassis with the Nissan President, I think.
The Z32 Nissan 300ZX and the Infiniti J30/Nissan Leopard were together, I think.
The Infinti M45 is based on the Y43 Nissan Cedric/Gloria.

Nothing in the US was connected to the Skyline, as far as chassis goes. If there was a connection, it wouldn't have been such a big deal to legalize Skylines.

Re: Skyline Frame...

Weh, I did some looking around, the closest thing I found was the s13 from here.

Little tweaking and everything will be good to go.

Re: Skyline Frame...

but it doesnt matter because a GT-R is unibody....the frame is built into the car. you cant just get a chassis and expect to build a car off of it.
