Will 225 Tires Fit 16x6.5 Rims?

My stock rims are 16x6.5 and has 205/55/16 tires. I have a set of 225/50/16 tires here that I wanna use. Will it fit my stock rims or is it too wide?

I forgot to mention that this will go on the stock rims of a Jaguar X-type (16x6.5 size rims)

most 225/50-16 tires will fit any wheel width from 6.0" to 8.0" and on an X-type Jag I think you would be OK using that size
