I have a question.
I just bought a 1987 Camaro Iroc-Z28 with the 305 5 speed.I am just wondering what I would have to do to make it a 400+ horsepower monster.

Re: I have a question.
Start with a new transmission. Even a stock 350 can destroy the Borg Warner T-5 you have in that thing. Thats why the 350 was only offered with the automatic for your car.

Re: I have a question.
Yeah, i would say upgrade the tranny to a richmond five speed, or a T56, then from there, its tough to get a 305 to 400hp without forced induction. there are plenty of supercharger kits available, and nitrous oxide systems. but if you are looking at doing this without power adders, your best bet is to pull the 305, and build a stout 350 with a good cam, and good heads, with around 10:1 compression. If you are on a budget, you cant beat vortec heads, look them up on any hot rod magazine, i have yet to see a budget 350 with these heads not break 400hp. then throw it all together and rock the town.
