Ebay Parts
I see very cheap air intakes on ebay for like $50. Are these any good or just a waste of money? I also found a set of cast iron headers for 250 shipped, are these also a waste of money?

Re: Ebay Parts
You never really know with eBay...I was just shown something a few days ago, a lot of members actually set up their accounts to look like they have had like, 100 great sales and transactions, when in truth its just them with a different name...if you click on their number by the star, look at all the feedback...if everyone who left feedback has the same # by the star, click on a few of the items supposedly sold...they'll all be the same thing...its freakin weird, but those are the people that will rip you off, steal your $ and leave...so just do your homework if you want to get something off of eBay, ESPECIALLY if its going in your car.

Re: Ebay Parts
I bought a CAI off of ebay. The air intake is fine, mine actually has a K & N with it. The only problem is that they shorted me a boot sleeve, a c-clamp and they normally dont give directions with it (because the directions has the companies name on it and they dont want you goign and buying whole sale like they did :o) But overall Its worth it.

Re: Ebay Parts
As a company, I have to say that E-bay is a horrible marketplace. You really don't know what you are getting and the quality of the generic stuff shows why the stuff is only $50. And alot of people rip others off by selling "chips" and other such items. Plus, there are usually no rebates on items or any kind of gaurentee.
For E-bay, it really is a buyer beware marketplace for auto parts, and "so sad, too bad" attitude if you get screwed. Companies sell intake for the prices that they sell them for BECAUSE they spend alot of money on R&D and intakes and other such items go thru numerous revisions before the final product is released. And the fact that only top quality materials are used. |

Re: Ebay Parts
As a buyer and a seller who has been active on ebay since the past 3 years with several thousand bucks worth of transactions done successfully, i can say that ebay rocks. YOU have to be smart enough to see if stuff they are selling is generic or not and then decide if you want to get it,,,,for example, GReddy is DIFFERENT from GReddy STYLE....the "style" part is a legal disclaimer that they can use against u when u tell them "hey its not a real GReddy" because they never said it was...they jsut said GReddy "style".
I have purchased everything from wings to kits to intakes to FMICs, and I have to say this place is a gold mine. Look for PRIVATE sellers who sell their old intakes and used stuff, and save TONS. It has always worked for me, you just need to be smart and communicate with the seller. A non or poorly responding seller must be treated with caution , etc. As far as intakes go, its just piping, and as long as it fits, you wont see much marginals gains in getting brand name crap for 4 times the price. I mean, a 1G BOV vs an HKS....both hold boost the best, but one is 10 times more expensive... my 2C. |

I love Ebay and if you are looking to upgrade your speakers, deck and amp - there is no better place. You can get infinity and alpine for half the price.

Re: Ebay Parts
no-name springs are just designed to lower the car without any regard for how it will handle, High quality springs are designed with springrates and progressions that will actually improve the handling as well as lower.

Re: Ebay Parts
if you disagree then I guess you don't know that much about Ebay. Some people like paying full retail prices. I guess that makes them feel better but if you dont' want to get ripped off by the department stores then check out Ebay. IF you ever went to college then you know about the break even point and buying in bulk.

Re: Ebay Parts
ebay is just fine. just watch out if you're buying name bran parts or off name bran parts. I've gotten many of my parts off of there except for intake and springs. I've never had a problem with it.

Re: Ebay Parts
Yeah, like mentioned above, a lot of people write in a brand name then in the description say it is "the same type as....." meaning it really isn't the brand name. Still, eBay is like our local dollar store and finding something great can really be awesome!!!
Just so you all know, my dad found another fraud on eBay just yesterday...someone selling an airplane, he did background checks on the ID # and location and the guy claiming to sell it really wasn't the guy who owned the plane! My dad talked to the owner and they discovered he had identity theft... so again, if you plan on making a BIG EXPENSIVE purchase...I would do your research. If you get asked to put down a payment to put it on hold, or if they tell you that you have to be pre-approved...don't throw your $ out the window! Otherwise...its all cool =) I'll admit I still love eBay! |
